Job Description

We are looking for a Fibre Optic Jointing Instructor to join our team here in Chelmsford to deliver training in our Jointing School. 

  • Ensure that the facilities under your control are managed safely and in accordance with legislation and best industry practice
  • Carry out planned training for Global Marine a jointers in accordance with the UJ consortium procedures and the Companies re-qualification processes.
  • Carry out planned training for external Customers jointers in accordance with the UJ consortium procedures and recommended re-qualification processes.
  • Carry out other planned Jointer training for Fleet sea staff or external Customers as directed by the manager.
  • Adjust and deliver training to account for the cultural background of people being trained and adapt style to coach trainees to successfully complete the required training.
  • Manage the delivery of training courses assigned to the team and ensure that all equipment, piece parts, cable and all ancillary equipment required for such training, is available at the designated training site.
  • On completion of training, ensure that all trainees carry out post joint maintenance to all tools and equipment used to construct any joints. This should be incorporated as part of the training on the basis of instilling “good housekeeping” habits to trainees and ensuring they maintain equipment in a suitable manner.
  • Undertake the transfer of Universal Jointing technology and PGU development through to the Training School as directed by the UJ Engineering & Development Manager.
  • Provide assistance to the UJ Engineering & Development Manager in development of any new technology for UJ, PGU or any other Jointing system.
  • Provide guidance and support on technical aspects of jointing to internal and external customers. 
  • Responsible for the effective line and performance management of all direct reports, as well as their motivation and development
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
JE (UJ and UQJ qualified) with min 5 years experience

·        Acompetent and experienced jointer who is fully conversant with UJ/UC technology

·        Goodinterpersonal skills 

·        Self-reliantand resourceful with the ability to use own initiative

·        Culturallyaware

·        Abilityand willingness to switch disciplines from one job to another in order tomaximise efficiency
