Job Description

Purpose:

  • Strategic business partner to Fleet Director
  • Monitoring & reporting on cost,
  • Providing insightful analysis on past/future performance
  • Project accounting for major capex spend
  • Ensure compliance with statutory financial controls
Key Deliverables:
  • Ownership of business unit finances, overhead, vessel opex /capex and working capital
  • Daily liaison with operational and commercial management to understand costs and to both challenge and support financial forecasts & budgets
  • Completion of ongoing and post-project financial reviews of Capex project, working with Project Managers to outline and highlight budget differences and variances from original plan
  • Detailed analysis of monthly financials (projects, fleet as appropriate) and forecasts for review by Fleet Director and Finance & Commercial Director
  • Support the overall finance team in preparation of monthly Management Information Pack
  • Month-end (project, fleet) journal preparation and approval support
  • Prepare month end flash reporting for review with the business unit MD and Director of Commercial Finance
  • Completion of monthly forecasting and annual budgeting
  • Ad hoc duties as required

  • Experience of monthly variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting, project accounting and standard costing.
  • Ability to understand technical & operational issues at a high level and translate these into financial terms.
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills.
  • Ability to present & explain finance to non-financial managers.
  • Standard and absorption costing
  • Ability to work pro-actively & independently managing varying workloads on different projects but managing time to meet all deadlines as they fall due
  • Understanding and knowledge of contracts and the contractual process in either a marine, construction or project environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel based skills; be comfortable with financial formulae Lookups, Pivots
