Job Description

This role would suit an experienced engineer who has a wealth of experience mobilising vessels and wants to expand their professional capabilities further.   GMG have a series of vessel mobilisations and demobilisations planned in Q4 2021 and beyond, and need support from an engineer who can come in and hit the ground running. 

You will be responsible to assembling and managing fabrication scopes through to delivery, and then bringing everything together in our base in Blyth to ensure the conversion works goes to plan.  You’ll need to be commercially minded, as comfortable running a schedule and budget as you are on the back deck of a vessel.  Much of the preparation will be done remotely working from home, and most site works will be done in Blyth, UK. 

The successful candidate will have a wealth of contacts that they can draw upon to support them in executing the works in and around the fabrication and offshore industry.  It is likely that they will also be familiar with classification societies, both plan approval and on site survey. 

It is a 12-month contract scope, which is a fast turnaround, with a strong likelihood to extend further depending on workload of the business.  

Key Deliverables:

  • Reporting to Lead Project Engineer.
  • Checking and approving drawings for construction.
  • Support ad hoc requests from Project Management and Proposals.
  • Key role in communicating between site/vessel and the office.
  • Planning, scheduling, procedure writing and risk assessments for all elements of vessel mobilisations.
  • On site presence on vessels as necessary to support mobilisations (shift work will be needed).
  • Estimating mobilisation works and preparing budgets.
  • Meeting with suppliers and forming strategic partnerships with key suppliers and fabricators.
  • Support ad hoc requests from Project Management and Proposals teams across the group.
  • Key role in communicating between site/vessel and the office.
  • Prepare and use quality documentation such as FAT plans and ITPs as required.
  • Cost control, planning and financial modelling.
  • Scheduling and planning for project execution.
  • Represent Project Team on-site/offshore

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Experienced in offshore Oil, Gas and Renewables with a background in subsea design and implementation.
  • Bachelor or Master’s Engineering Degree.
  • Experience in grillage and sea fastening design on Ships.
  • Well versed in standard offshore Rules & Regulations and dealing with Class Approvals.
  • Experience in International project work.
  • Willing to travel both nationally and internationally.

     

    Advantageous Abilities/Certification:

  • Cable Lay/Umbilical Lay/Subsea Construction
  • Offshore Windfarm experience
  • Ability to use AutoCAD or SolidWorks
  • Associated with a Professional Institution
  • Structural Engineering background and ability to carry out seafastening checks and prepare drawings.
