Job Description

Purpose: Full commercial management of project life cycle for all Projects within the Global Offshore business unit. A key member of the Senior Project Team(s), providing business and contract management support as required working within an large international contracting business.

The role requires sound contract management skills, with ability to identify and address commercial contract risk that protect and grow revenues across the business.

Key Deliverables:

Commercial Management

  • Responsible for the commercial management of all projects within Global Offshore.
  • Agree with the Senior Project Manager the contract strategy for all projects with the business and to facilitate timely and efficient implementation.
  • Commercially administering all contracts
  • Ensure robust cost management is undertaken at all times including: accurate live forecasting and actual costs vs estimates.
  • Providing support to the procurement process (pre-award), commercial management of contracts during the execution phase (post-award) and commercial management for the delivery of contract account agreements (close out).
  • Identifying and recommending mitigating actions on all commercial risk / opportunities at the earliest possible time.
  • Managing risk and ensuring first class corporate governance by working closely and collaboratively with Bids, Sales, Legal and Project Delivery teams to mitigate or transfer commercial risk as it relates to contractual terms and conditions, while maximising opportunities for the Company to deliver on its goals.
  • Provide contractual advice and guidance to Procurement to ensure the contracting chain operates effectively.


  • Ensure robust estimates are provided that are aligned to scope with a transparent overview of all risks and opportunities within the business.
  • Ensure that accurate and trusted records are kept so that all financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
  • Implementing contract commercial / financial reporting and participating in periodic contract reviews.
  • Control and store Contract documentation in compliance with Company systems and processes.


  • Support the management of Insurance Claims with the Legal Department.
  • Look to develop members of the team with commercial knowledge and experience gained over numerous years in industry.
  • Monitor and advise on compliance of contractual obligations to Company policies and procedures and relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. anti-fraud, anti-bribery and corruption etc).
  • Provide a range of commercial support to the Company’s Business Units in co-operation with internal stakeholders, government agencies, clients and outside counsel to ensure the Company’s strategic interests are secured and advanced.
  • Create and maintain high client confidence and satisfaction, communicating clearly, simply and directly with excellent professionalism.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Proven track record delivering high value offshore energy projects on time and to budget
  • Knowledge of the European Offshore Windfarm Industry
  • Substantial Contract negotiation / delivery experience – Assertive profile
  • Previously led the delivery of high value high risk projects.
  • Experience supporting front end procurement / closing of commercial agreements
  • Experience seeing these agreements through to fulfilment.
  • Supporting any claims processes with the Legal Department that arise during or post project completion.
  • Recognised degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Good working knowledge in contract Management including FIDIC, LOGIC, NEC3 contracts
  • Excellent drafting, reviewing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact successfully with executives, technical teams and senior management as well as work with demanding internal clients and external customers.
  • Able to work independently and resourcefully under pressure.
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

To date, the Global Offshore team has been involved in the installation of more than 470 power cables. The Q1400 trenching system, which has the capability to perform jet trenching in soils of up to 100kPa and mechanical chain cutting of soils of up to 250kPa is extremely adaptable and can transfer from jetting to cutting modes whilst at sea without craneage, avoiding the need to return to port for system changes.
