Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Service Engineer to join our team reporting directly to the Technical Manager. The Fleet Engineer forms an integral part of the fleet operations technical department. This role is UK based and will include regular travel around the UK and Europe as required to support the company’s fleet of crew transfer vessels. The fleet operations team is responsible for the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of vessels under the management of CWind.
  

KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Support the fleet operations team to ensure vessels are technically available at all times;
  • Review each vessel’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and perform routine machinery servicing that is above the capabilities of the vessel’s crew members;

  • Review each vessel’s defects and formulate a plan to rectify and close these as efficiently as possible during your attendance on board the vessel;

  • Review each vessel’s machinery oil analysis and condition monitoring reports, issuing advice to both the vessel and Technical Manager of major issues and any actions required to be taken by the vessel;

  • Provide remote support to vessels in order to assist the crew in performing fault finding and repairs as required;

  • Plan and order all spare parts required to rectify a defect or maintenance activity following the company’s procurement process;

  • Maintain and perform stock check of vessel’s spares within the various stores locations as required;

  • Flexibility to attend a vessel at short notice and the ability to “work to finish” on jobs that are time critical to return a vessel to operation;

  • Form part of the fleet operations technical department 24 hour “on call” service for the fleet of vessels;

  • Support other members of the fleet operations technical department as required to resolve any specific issue, teamwork is paramount!

  • Support the Technical Manager with vessel dry dockings and refits as required;

  • Support the Technical Manager with analysis of significant defects in order to introduce measures to prevent reoccurrence;

  • Perform technical inspections of vessels during your attendance and raise any subsequent defects or concerns;

  • Provide training as required to vessel’s crew members for routine maintenance and fault-finding exercises;

  • Provide training and assist with the development of the assistant fleet service engineer;

  • Any other duties as required by the Technical Manager; and

  • Ensure the company’s high standard of quality and safety is maintained at all times.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Education in Marine/Engineering;

  • Previous experience of technical repair and maintenance of a vessel [preferably small craft];

  • Previous experience of dry docking works on a vessel [desirable];

  • Experienced in various vessel propulsion systems (fixed pitch propellers, jets, variable pitch propellers);

  • Understanding of compliance and regulations required to maintain a vessel;

  • Effective at problem solving and multi-tasking (on site and remotely);

  • Ability to prioritise workload;

  • Ability to self-motivate and motivate others;

  • Good written and verbal communication skills;

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings/manuals and identify spare parts required;

  • Member of an engineering society (such as: IMarEST, IMechE, IET) [desirable];

  • Electrical/electrician biased [desirable];

  • Competent at using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);

  • Full Driving licence (preferably clean); and

  • Valid Passport and eligibility to work in UK and Europe.
