Contracts Advisor (Fixed Term 6 months)

Job Description

This role can be located in either Aberdeen or Chelmsford

Purpose:    To provide legal and contractual advice to the Commercial teams and  elsewhere within the Company as requested.


  • To provide contractual advice and assistance to the Commercial teams across each of the SBU’s within the Group.
  • To assist in the preparation of Commercial and Contractual documentation.
  • To provide support and guidance to the Bid Teams in the preparation of contractual and legal qualifications and push back and highlight contractual risk.
  • To provide advice on documentation such as contracts, confidentiality agreements, co-operation agreements. PCG’s, Bonds and similar.
  • To assist the commercial teams during any contractual negotiations.
  • To provide support and guidance to the Purchasing Department in the preparation of contractual and legal qualifications for Subcontracts to effect the necessary flow downs.  
  • To undertake other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time by Head of Department


Qualifications, Skills and Experience


  • 5+ years’ experience in contracting in the energy industry or submarine cable, power and or offshore industry.

  • Commercial, financial, and marine legal experience with a leading London or Aberdeen law firm or similar work experiences.

  • Ability to think clearly and outside the box, work as a team player

  • Ability to prioritise work and meet strict deadlines under pressure

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in an understanding manner to the wider business

  • Qualification:

  • LLB in Law essential / Or similar Legal Qualification
  • LLM Oil and Gas desirable

  • English qualified solicitor, not necessarily practising or legal executive.

  • CIPS Level 4 Desirable
