Job Description

The CAD Design Draughtsperson is a key role in the business, responsible to the Engineering Manager for the effective delivery of Technical Drawings, Models and associated Engineering to all the Business Units within the Global Marine Group.

Regarding competencies, the successful candidate will be familiar with the operation of the usual 2D & 3D draughting software, with particular competency on AutoCAD and Solidworks 3D.  In addition, they will be familiar with technical standards, layouts and normal practices, always understanding the relationship between good QA and speedy delivery of deliverables.

The role isn’t for the faint hearted, the work will be demanding and we will always be looking to improve what we do, challenge the limits and do so more efficiently.  Being a 24/7 world-wide business means that sometimes the hours have to be put in and the need for some late nights and weekend working.  Knowledge and acceptance of this is balanced by working within a great team, involved with prestigious projects and genuinely being able to contribute to the success.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Detailed understanding of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.  An experience of Rhino would be an advantage.
  • Degree Qualified in Mechanical/ Civil/ Naval/ Engineering Discipline or Strong experience in working in an Engineering environment.
  • Understanding of modern mechanical or structural engineering principles and practice.
  • Awareness of offshore construction vessels and crew transfer vessel design and construction.
  • Previous experience of storyboards and technical procedure writing.
  • Familiar with working on construction sites, ports and/or shipyards.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally if required.
