Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Deckhand or Mate to join our Ramsgate based Crew, the right candidate must be within commutable distance to the Port of Ramsgate. This is a job share and the rota for this position will be to work one week on and three weeks off (with the potential for overtime)

The vessel Deckhand/Mate reports directly to the Master of the vessel who maintains overall responsibility for the safety of the vessel, its passengers and crew on-board vessels between 12 and 27m with various propulsion (Jet, CPP, IPS and FP). The vessels operate with UK and European waters working both O&M and Construction contracts in the renewables industry.


  • Assist the master in ensuring that all shipboard operations are conducted within the company Integrated management system (IMS) and within the confines of the related classification society and flag state requirements. At all times to maintain a current working knowledge of the aforementioned.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of the ‘Code of Safe Working Practices for Seaman’ (COSWP), ‘Marine Pollution Regulations’ (MARPOL) Safety of Lives at Sea (SOLAS) and the ‘Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea’ (COLREGS) and at all times adhere to these.
  • Cooperate with the master to ensure the company health, safety and environmental policies are adhered to.
  • Assist the master in maintaining accurate logbooks in line with the company IMS and International Maritime Organisation (IMO) requirements. These logbooks will be available at all times for inspection by the relevant authorities.
  • Assist the master in maintaining the vessel according to the planned maintenance system (PMS)
  • To co-operate with the Master to limit downtime through unexpected breakdown or scheduled maintenance without compromising the safety of the vessel.
  • Report frequently to the Master on health and safety issues, which may have an impact on the safe operation of the vessel.
  • Report frequently to company Department Heads as per the requirements of the IMS.
  • Adhere company uniform policy during all periods when on duty.
  • Ensure they are appropriately rested prior to reporting for duty
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Min Required
  • STCW95 Basic
    • Personal Survival Techniques (STCW A-VI/1-1)*
    • Fire Fighting (SCTW A-VI/1-2)*
    • Elementary First Aid (STCW A-VI/1-3)*
    • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (STCW A-VI/1-4)
  •  Approved Engine Course (AEC)
  • Slinger signaller/slinger banksman certificate (standard BS 7121-1:2016)
  • Short range radio certificate
  • ENG1
  • Proficient in English language both spoken and written
  • GWO Manual Handling
  • Food hygiene level 2
  • AED (defib)
  • IMDG
must have been completed or refreshed within the last 5 year.
  • GWO Working at Height
  • Yacht Master
  • Navigation Watch Rating
  • Hi-ab crane operators ticket
  • Proficiency in Medical First Aid (STCW A-VI/4-1)
  • Good understanding of MS Office suite
  • Relevant and valid certificates
