Job Description


  • To provide accounting and financial analysis to the business units
  • To provide commercial financial support to budget holders
  • To ensure compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley financial controls for projects within the business units

Key Deliverables:

Commercial Finance – Vessels and Overheads

  • Business partnering with key personnel to understand cost base and variances
  • Daily liaison with budget holders to understand costs and to provide both challenge and support to terms of spend, financial forecasts & budgets
  • Work closely with the BU Business partners in terms of feedback and understanding of the cost base.
  • Completion of monthly financial reviews with budget holders outlining and highlighting budget differences and variances from original plan
  • Assist BU Business Partners with project accounting where required
  • Detailed cost analysis month on month for review by Head of Commercial Finance
  • Support the finance team in preparation of monthly Management Information Pack in respect of monthly analysis as and when required
  • Month-end journal preparation and posting
  • Prepare month end flash reporting for review with Head of Commercial Finance
  • Assist the BU Business partners with the completion of rolling monthly forecast and assistance with annual budgeting where required
  • Provide commercial finance support as directed to the business unit
  • Ad hoc duties as required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Part qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
  • Experience of monthly variance analysis, forecasting and budgeting
  • Ability to understand operational issues and translate these into financial terms.
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills.
  • Ability to present & explain financial terms to non-financial managers.
  • Ability to work pro-actively & independently managing varying workloads on different projects but managing time to meet all deadlines as they fall due
  • Understanding and knowledge of contracts and the contractual process in either a marine, construction or project environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel based skills; be comfortable with financial formulae Lookups, Pivots
