Project Engineer (Global Offshore - Staff)

Job Description
Global Offshore is a business unit of Global Marine Group and provides comprehensive power cable installation, repair and trenching services to the offshore renewable energy, utilities and oil & gas markets. The ideal candidate will have experience in the within offshore environment and subsea construction.   Working within Global Offshore (as part of the Global Marine Group), you’ll enjoy taking on scopes of work across the Business Unit and managing the expectations of your colleagues relying on you to deliver.


Working on the new and keeping away from the routine brings about challenges.  The successful candidate will need to be a highly motivated, team player, fully committed to safety, open to new ways of working and have a healthy obsession with delivering work to the highest possible standard.  There is pressure in the role which will need to be managed, requiring good self-discipline and excellent teamwork. 


GMG has various offices around the UK (Chelmsford, Portland, Blyth, Grimsby and Aberdeen), this role will be based in the Global Offshore Aberdeen office. This is an opportunity for the chosen engineer to gain experience in the renewable energy industry, a significant and growing market for the business.


Key Deliverables:

  • Prepare the provisioning/sub-contracting scopes of work, acting both as a client and contractor, and evaluate proposals from the sub-contractors.
  • Checking and approving drawings from review, to construction up to as-built revisions.
  • Support ad hoc requests from Project Management.
  • Key role in communicating between site/vessel and the office.
  • Devise and prepare methodologies/procedures for offshore operations.
  • Co-ordinate production of storyboards and drafting requirements.
  • Manage the mobilisation of vessels and equipment as needed.
  • Carry out basic hand calculations and produce design reports/technical notes.
  • Prepare and use quality documentation such as FAT plans and ITPs as required.
  • Cost control and financial modelling.
  • Scheduling and planning for project execution.
  • Represent Project Team on-site/offshore
Qualifications, Skills and Experience


  • Experience in offshore vessel based work with a background subsea installation.
  • Bachelor or Master’s Engineering Degree.
  • Willing to travel both nationally and internationally.

Advantageous Abilities/Certification:

  • Cable Lay/Umbilical Lay/Subsea Construction.
  • Offshore Windfarm experience.
  • Ability to use AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Offshore Survival & Medical.
  • Associated with a Professional Institution.
