Job Description


To provide the business with procurement support at an operational level, driving out cost wherever possible without compromising the required quality considerations and timescales.

To control and manage procurement requirements and administration activities within the department, as part of a central procurement support function and in line with the requirements of the Procurement Procedures.

Key Deliverables:

  • Process all Fleet Amos, Subsea, Cable Working Gear and Group Shared Services related purchasing requirements:
  • Sourcing equipment, parts, consumables and services (both Opex and Capex);
  • Obtaining quotations from suppliers;
  • Reviewing Requisitions for accuracy and commercial best practice;
  • Creating and issuing authorised Purchaser Orders to suppliers against agreed terms and conditions;
  • Liaising between departments and the supply base to progress and co-ordinate on time deliveries;
  • Conducting Supplier Performance Reviews;
  • Facilitating the communication of customer complaints to Suppliers and subsequent resolution; ensuring that the Customer Complaints Database is updated;
  • Ensure that Purchase Orders are raised correctly to reflect the right price, quantity, place and time of delivery and all other agreed terms;
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure quality, commercial and delivery targets are achieved in keeping with business requirements;
  • Promoting and embedding good Procurement practice within Global Marine Group;
  • Review and agree terms of conditions of supply in Global Marine’s favour;
  • Assisting stakeholders to meet their budget obligations;
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable to resolve any invoice queries efficiency and effectively;
  • Work closely with Vessels and Depots to resolve delivery discrepancy’s;
  • Provide cover/support for the Procurement department, as directed, during periods of absence;
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that requests to purchase adhere to procedure, are fully auditable and traceable in line with SOx requirements and maintain accurate Purchase Order and Contract folders;
  • Developing Supplier relationships to enhance the quality of supplier performance and responsiveness and in accordance with the supplier reduction/rationalisation program;
  • Actively source and manage requirements to facilitate a Vendor Reduction programme;
  • Processing new Vendor Requests;
  • General administration, reporting  and support;
  • Any other appropriate tasks that the company requires.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience


  • Experience of computerised purchasing systems (IFS preferred);
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Attention to detail with good organisational and time management skills;
  • A minimum of 3 years purchasing experience;
  • A can do / proactive approach and must possess a positive attitude and display the ability to identify problems and solutions;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate with external contacts;
  • Self-motivated, flexible and able to work under pressure;
  • Keen to develop Procurement skills and knowledge through MCIPS.


  • Proven knowledge of the Procurement function and commercial terms;
  • An understanding of Specifications and Drawings;
  • Experience within a multi-cultural and Global Sourcing/Logistics environment;
