Job Description

Purpose: To provide the business with excellent procurement support, at a tactical and operational level, driving out cost wherever possible without compromising the required quality considerations and timescales. To ensure the effective implementation and management of supply agreements, evaluating and mitigating supply risks.  Delivering compliant procurement support and championing best practice that adds value through all stages from sourcing through to contract delivery and supplier relationship management.

 

Key Deliverables:

  • Lead the development, maintenance and implementation of sourcing strategies, ensuring alignment to corporate objectives.
  • Drafting contracts and negotiation of all commercial or contractual terms to achieve positive outcomes, with a particular focus on sub-contracting and vessel chartering.
  • Effective leadership of cross-functional teams, supporting the development of colleagues both within Procurement and across the organisation.  Working with key stakeholders to ensure best procurement practice is adopted with a real focus on supplier review, selection and contracting.
  • To cover work within the Project Lifecycle process, from the bid stage through to implementation.  Identifying and managing risk, whilst ensuring on time deliveries and improved project profit margins.

  • To be proactive with the identification, development and, once agreed, implementation of new opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation and procurement process improvements, working closely with stakeholders to meet the GMG Procurement objectives and targets in line with the company’s strategic vision.

  • Research, evaluate and qualify new suppliers to gain GMG’s approved supplier status.

  • Monitor, manage and develop supplier relationships and performance to ensure GMG have a responsive, agile and cost effective supply base.

  • Ensuring GMG is protected by favourable Contractual terms and conditions that are current, relevant and enforceable.

  • Ensure all work is properly organised and communicated within the department and across the business.

  • Work towards successful delivery of key KPI’s in a number of areas and report progress on a monthly basis.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Required

  • CIPS qualified or equivalent procurement experience; minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Strong working knowledge of contract law.
  • Experience of planning and delivering successful negotiations.
  • Capability to think strategically and work on own initiative when required.
  • Ability to influence at all levels within the organisation. 
  • Ability to travel, both nationally and internationally as required. 
  • Good working knowledge of all ‘Microsoft’ applications: particularly Projects, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • A dynamic individual, being a good team player that is flexible and can function well under pressure.

Ideal

  • Experience of Oil and Gas industry.
  • Experience of Offshore Renewables industry.
  • A track record of international sourcing.
